Cornerstone Finance Group CEO and his Wife reach Everest Base Camp after epic charity trek

Everest Base Camp

Cornerstone Finance Group CEO Michael Wayman and his wife Tammy have successfully completed an incredible journey to Everest Base Camp to raise some vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

The couple began their 13-day expedition on April 26 and arrived back in the UK on May 14. “It was an amazing experience,” said Michael. “We would like to thank everyone who supported us through this challenge”.

They managed to reach the milestone, which is 5364 metres above sea level, after an epic trek that took 8 days, and a further 4 days to head back to Lukla. Michael said, “The trail was difficult and challenging, we were walking for 8 hours a day, but both were feeling positive and well”.

Michael & Tammy were delighted to have raised over £1500 for MNDA and reflected on their achievement “It’s a fantastic feeling to have reached Everest Base Camp after months of training. We want everyone to know how important it is for us to support MNDA and their work in finding a cure for this disease.”

Motor Neurones Disease is a rare condition that affects around 2 in 100,000 people in the UK every year. The disease progressively damages parts of the nervous system and can affect how you walk, talk, eat, and breathe, sadly, there is no cure, which is why the great work by the MNDA is so important.

The company have been supporting the charity since 2021 and have raised over £20,000 so far through various activities. The cause is very close to the staff and clients of Cornerstone, having seen first-hand the way this disease can affect those closest to them.
